Project Custom Fields

Introduction: Project Custom Fields

Project Custom Fields are user-defined data slots that allow you to extend the standard project profile by capturing specific information tailored to your business workflow. Configured via a single-step modal in the Biz1 Settings, these fields support multiple data types—including text, numbers, dates, Yes/No toggles, and multi-select dropdowns—to store details like "Budget," "Project Priority," or "Location". Once defined, these fields automatically appear in the Add/Edit Project forms  data directly within each project record for use in filtering and reporting.

Once you open the Project custom fields modal, you can manage your data structure using these primary actions:

1. Add a New Field

  • Trigger: Click the Plus button (+) at the top right of the modal to reset the form for a new entry.

  • Configuration: Select your Field Type (Text, Number, Date, Yes/No, or Select) and provide both English and Hebrew labels.

  • Save: Click the Save button to store the field as a new JSON entry in the system.

2. Edit Existing Fields

  • Trigger: Click the Pencil icon next to any field in the table on the right.

  • Modifications: This loads the current settings (type, names, and options) back into the form for updates.

  • Update: After making changes, clicking Save updates the specific field definition without creating a duplicate.

3. Delete Fields

  • Trigger: Click the Trash icon in the "Action" column for the field you wish to remove.

  • Result: This permanently removes the field from the project_custom_fields list, meaning it will no longer appear in new or existing project forms.

Project Custom Field Types

You can customize how data is entered by selecting a specific Field Type from the dropdown menu to match your project's specific data needs:

  • Text: Best for short notes, IDs, or single-line descriptions.

  • Number: Used for tracking budgets, numeric counts, or specific values.

  • Yes\No (Radio): Creates a simple toggle switch for binary statuses like "Priority" or "Approved".

  • Select (Options): Creates a dropdown list with custom labels and optional color-coding for categories.

  • Date: Adds a calendar picker to track specific project milestones or deadlines.

Where Project Custom Fields are Used

  • Add/Edit Project Form: Custom fields automatically render at the bottom of the form, below standard fields like Name and Client.
